All-Party Parliamentary Group for Rowing welcomes non-Parliamentary Members

The All-Party Parliamentary Group for Rowing has extended an invitation to all rowers, boat clubs, any rowing supporters to join the Parliamentary Group and play a role in supporting rowing and challenging issues it faces.

Celebrating its 10th year, the Group is now open to non-Parliamentary members and welcomes and values their input. The Group will meet regularly in Parliament to hear from stakeholders in the sport and invites non-Parliamentarians to join the Group, attend meetings and give their thoughts.

The Group also intends to do more to showcase rowing in Westminster and is investigating receptions and an annual dinner in the House of Lords, to which Associate Members will be invited.

The invitation to join the Group was extended by the Group’s Co-Chairman and MP for Hendon, Matthew Offord. He said “I and colleagues in both Houses of Parliament welcome the involvement of fellow rowers and those interested in the sport. Rowing plays an important role in people’s health and in local communities. We want to make sure we provide a voice for rowers, clubs, and the sport more widely in Parliament and across government. I encourage all who take to the water to get involved and I look forward to meeting our new members in the Palace of Westminster soon.”

Those seeking to join the Group must adhere to the Group’s constitution and pay an annual subscription, based on type of membership. To become a part of the Group, simply visit www.parliamentaryrowing.org/join.
